Online therapy is an effective way to engage with a professional therapist. Many Australians currently in therapy face issues with accessing mental health treatment, or additional costs associated with therapy:
Online Therapy is Effective
Forbes in February 2021 published a survey by the Centers for Disease Control that stated the following:
"Mental health treatment via telehealth is here to stay, and may even increase in use post-Covid-19. People are needing therapy more than ever before.
There has been a significant increase in anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts in the months since the pandemic, according to a Centers for Disease Control study.
The greatest increase was found in those aged 18-24. In addition to anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts, there has been an increase in substance abuse and domestic violence.
Online therapy is not only beneficial to the client, but also to the therapist. Therapists are no longer having to commute to the office, and in some cases, they are no longer having to rent office space.
A more relaxed therapist, as with any worker, means more productivity and an increase in staying in the present moment".
Generally speaking it can take up to six sessions to feel some change, however there are no hard and fast rules, sometimes clients can feel a great change only after one or two sessions.
Our approach to therapy is firmly set in a strengths-based/solution focused brief frame and we tailor our sessions to give the client access to skills they need to develop 'real change' in a cost effective and ethical process.
Application of counselling interventions we use begin with brief-solution focused, narrative and social constructionist / rationalist approaches in counselling and psychotherapy.
In our supervision approach we assist you to co-construct supervision practice for professional identity using solution-oriented, process-work and strength-based approaches
